All Small Six Correct Starter?

This relates to all small sixes

I brought my 200 six home yesterday. Block code says it is 67-68. It has a C4 automatic. It's missing it's starter. I want to buy one so I can test compression and possibly start the motor on the stand to test it. Should I look for 67-68 Falcon or Mustang starter? It mounts high. See attached picture. Thanks in advance.

67 mustang 200 or 3.3 with an auto trans should work. Just make sure they sell what you asked for, they try to get you to buy anything and not what you searched for.
What engine and trans. do you have now and what will it be when you are done?

I just acquired the little "hot rodded" 200 six. I think I will put it in a 1948 Ford F1 1/2 ton pick up.

Well, I ordered a starter, and what I got was a starter with two mounting holes and my C4 bellhousing has 3 mounting holes...
Thoughts?

It wont matter if you search for a Falcon, Fairlane, Comet, Mustang, any other Ford Model, or by the engine size of a 144, 170, 200, or 250 six that way the chances are only 50 / 50 of getting the right one, it will always depend only on what's being used behind the engine like the type / size of the Manual Transmission Bell Housing (there are 2 Basic sizes so early is 3 Bolt and later in some 1966's and all those in 1967 and after they are the 2 bolt) or if you are using an Automatic Transmission it always a 3 bolt! It works like this for all the 1967 and up Small Sixes (170. 200, and 250's) and some of the Ford Models made in 1966 (I will call this the "Second Starter Rule") that if you are using a Manual Transmission with the Bigger Bell Housing, and larger Flywheel, with its matching 9 Inch Clutch Unit then it will only use the 2 Bolt Starter these are the same starters used on a SBF V8 with a Manual Transmissions and many other later Model Fords. The beginning or "First Starter Rule' was that all years of the Ford Small Six engines that are using an Auto Transmission (144, 170, 200, & 250 with either a Ford O, Merc O, Matic, or the C4 Trans) will only use a 3 bolt Starter, and additionally so did all the 1960 to 1965 144, 170, and early 200 Six's and also most of the 1966's Ford Models (when the Rule changed on the Manual Trans Models) like the 1965 & 1966 Mustang's that have a Manual Trans will also use a 3 Bolt starter. By the way if you wanted to get smaller Mini Starter for you 200 C4 Combo get one made for one of the FE engines 360, 390, 428, V8's with a C6 its the same 3 bolt starter here is a link of an example of one. Good luck https://www.speedmaster79.com/FORD-FE-390-428-3-Bolt-4HP-Standartd-or-Automatic-Starter-Motor

You did not order a starter that would fit a 67 mustang with a 200/3.3 engine with an automatic trans.
Like bubba said, the starter also fits the engines and auto trans he listed.
