Even if you bought it from a reputable place you should still check clearances and end play either with a dial indicator and micrometer or the green stringy thingy you lay on the bearings and measure width after torquing down main and rod caps.
I have bought engine parts from Ebay with no problems.
Just make sure to buy from someone with excellent rep.
