custom inlines valve question

I've got my head in the shop now (250 head for my 200 block). Anyway he said to install larger valves he would have to put in larger valve seats. He also said that it would take away to much metal, making it too thin. My question is, will CI's larger valves fit? The stems are 5/16", isn't that stock? He was unaware of these valves, and said the head is fine other wise. I'm taking him info tomorrow. Hope I worded this OK.

the valve seals and guides would be the same, the seats need to be opened up bigger.

The 175/150 valves will fit just fine, and yes it requires installing larger valve seats. However they'll need to use a little caution when installing the exhaust seat in the #1 cylinder, as the wall thickness can be a little thin on some heads. But even if it does break through to the water jacket, it can be repaired with a little welding. If it happens, it's always in the area right behind the thermostat housing, which happens to make it easy to get to and easy to fix. I've personally installed larger valves and seats in at least fifty heads. Of those, I've only had a problem with two cylinder heads. Both were repaired by a qualified welder, which actually makes them stronger than a stock head.

if i get bad feelings about this guy tomorrow ill contact classic inlines to get them to do it my budjet is 1200.00
larger valves street porting etc the guy im going to is a v8 guy
ive got a 2000 order in at inlines now nice to buy everything in 1 spot have heard only goood things about them i just thought it might be easyer to have head done local because of shipping

CI did my head and I'm very pleased with the work and craftmanship that went into it. the cool thing is they will even flow test it for you

For $1200 why not bump it up little more and get the new Alum head? you'll save shiping money too as you'd only need one way shiping.

What else is on the ticket for the engine? $2k in parts? you must be building a beast!! Good luck!!!
