The Drop A Load is easy to do if you wanted to keep using the Autolite 1100 that you have. Yes using a Holley 350 or 500 2V Carb would be a good way to go and also solves a few of those problems. There is also the Carter BBD 2V Carb that some having been using now that's also easy to mount to the Large Log Heads see below link. Are you going to change out the camshaft soon?

I replaced the low top BBD with the newer model high top BBD. I changed the choke shaft from the low top to the high top so my manual choke linkage would work. The ported vacuum works the way I want it to on the high top (no vacuum at idle). There was always some vacuum at idle on the low top...

Yes or better yet a Schneider Cam, @ http://schneidercams.com/ , or Howard Cams, @ https://www.summitracing.com/ . Some of the Cam companies were having trouble getting the Cam Blanks the last couple years. I just checked a couple weeks ago and it looks to be a little better now at some of the companies, still if you planning on doing that anytime soon you should get it ordered to cover the amount of lead time. Schneider & Howards will do Custom Grinds too.

You would need at least a 2500 rpm stall converter.

With that Cam Grind you would need to have a Higher Stall Torque Converter made and at least a 3.20 to 1 Rear Axle Gear as a minimum. Plus being a Solid Lifter you will need a set of the the Adjustable Rocker Arms and matching Cup & Ball Push Rods. The 108 Lobe centers also wouldn't be Ideal for an Auto Trans application you would want to change that to a 110 or 112 lobe center.

That cam doesn't make power until the engine is close to 3000 rpms, so you need a torque converter that allows the engine rpm to rev that high before engages.
The cam also requires a lot of engine modifications so it can make power from 2500 to 6000 rpms to take advantage of the cam.

I was planning on changing the rear axle gears to 3.88 to 1. And about the camshaft I apparently don't know what to look for so if it wouldn't be to much trouble could y'all find one for me for around that price that could be used for drag racing?

A Custom Higher Stall Torque Converter Custom made at "Hughes" here in Az. is around $475.00 $500.00, there are also a few other places that maybe are closer to your area.

If its still a stock 1966 Mustang Rear Axle than its a likely a 7 1/4 inch don't think you will find many Gear Ratio's for them no 3.88's for sure. There was a 3.50 and a 4.0 that was used in some of the Ranchero's and Sedan Delivery's though.
