dropped off my "d0" cylinder head at my machinist today. here he is working on a bunch of race engines for the round track guys in my area and I was thinking here I am with a puney ford 6 head. he seen it and his eyes lit up and he said you want me to fix it like I did when running 6,s was the thing around here !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I said yea with a few changes. he said like what and I told him I was going to run 2 duces then he really perked up. called ferria about some valves. I had all spec,s except the stem length I needed. I,ve gotta decide the cam I,am going to run for sure ( leaning towards crower) I know rocker ratio 1.6 , I know rpm,s 5700 max, I know head sizes 1.75 / 1.5, I know dia. is 5/16" stems. I don't want to go into coil bind. you guys that have sperience think I need long valves ? if so how much ?

just ordered my exhaust port divider. shopped all over the net and best place to buy I found was summit @ 19.00 + 6.00 shipping. if my head is a good core I,am gonna have it tumbled in steel shot to clean it completely after removing all freeze plugs and sending units etc. gonna glyptol coat the inside of valve cover area after deburring it and blending in oil return holes. gonna do full port n polish also weld on flanges for my 2 duces.

Looking forward to seeing it! I went to visit my machinist today.

You get a good price on the 1.6? The Yella Terra are $475 American, so $50 + shipping more than what that firm in CA wanted for reworked OEM rockers. Injust can't justify those particular 1.6 at that price...

My 2 cents on Glyptal... not worth it. It adds the possibility of the stuff coming off and blocking your oil passages. It's not really going to make much difference anyway, probably even less so below the 6k rpm your are running. The oil will form a film over any rough casting and allow the rest of the oil to flow over it smoothly, without any paint needed. Just my .02
Sounds like a cool build, keep us posted!
