D7-E0 head question

I was at the not so local salvage yard looking at a 79 mustang with an inline 6, I knew I needed the D7, or the E0 head, well on the physical intake part of the head it said D8BE but on the exhaust manifold it had the D7 number, is this a different head? The motor looked pretty nice like it had been through before it was salvaged. the 79s only came with 200s correct? thanks for the help, oh and one more thing that was the only small 6 in the entire yard, where as I know I saw at least 5 bigger 6s.... thanks again, Tommy

Howdy Tommy:

Any head from the D7 casting to the last casting, E0 is a good head. That includes the D8.

It is no unusual for a part to have a casting earlier than its year. It would not be unusual for a 78 vehicle to have a D7 casting somewhere.

my entire motor came outof a guys parts car 64 fairlane......78 block with a 65 head...

btw if anyone is looking for some big bell parts there are about 3-4 ltd II's in the yard right outside of town. all in good shape but I think they all have no carbs on them. durasparks, pulleys brackets, heads...its all there
