Determining Year

Up until a day or so ago i thought i had a 200, but when i bought a starter for a 200 it didnt fit and the 170 starter did, I was wondering how to distiguish the engine and the year (between 64.5 and 65)?

The engine doesn´t determine which starter you use - the bellhousing determines that.

As for the difference between a 170 and a 200, count the freeze plugs on the passenger side of the block. 3 = 170 and 5 = 200.
