Just been re-reading some of the interesting threads in hardcore tech on compression ratios and want to ask are the early Crossflows (iron head and carb Alloy head) more or less detonation prone than a 250 2V.
I thought the Cleveland style heads in the Crossflows were better but then I keep reading something about a "squish band".
I would be interested to hear if anyone has had success running around 9.5:1 comp on our "standard unleaded Petrol" "SULP"?
I have polished the chambers in my Iron crossflow to a near mirror finish and will be taking off the sharp edges but still am not sure if i should go anymore than about 9.0:1 comp on SULP (maybe better efficiency on 9.5:1 on PULP???). Im leaning toward the Crow 214/214 at 50 cam as this one has been recommended a number of times and sounds like it would be a real Rip Snorter with good low and high rpm . Dont know if this cam allows for a slight up in Comp over 9.0:1 on SULP??? Anyone?
