All,
Has anyone instaleed a electric fuel pump? I need help wiring it up. Ihave read you need a fuel pump realy, if so does anyone know where to get one(part # type) I plan to put a cut of switch in my car as well.

Thanks in advance

Steve

I put a Holley blue on mine. I bought a relay at the local parts store for $4, it looks like a black square with 4 prongs and a small mounting plate sticking out. I put a toggle switch in my glove box so I can turn it off when I want. I spliced into a wire that turns on power with the key. I think I used the radio power to run the relay. The power to the pump runs direct from the battery. I didn't think about fusing it at the time but that will come later. :duh:

Wouldn't you want that on switched power? Like, so it stops when the ignition is off? Radio works on ACC too.

I'm considering one also, but along with the power switch to the key, I understand you can have a relay from the oil pressure.

Reason I asked is because we had one on the old 54 Packard and when the engine killed, you could still hear it ticking under the rear seat. It seemed to me - in my young and stupid years - that it would flood out the carb. Hence, it was essential to turn the engine off as soon as there was a stall or failure to start.

Shrinkdude,
Ok I'm not much up on relay. So black wire to ground. How does all the other stuff wire together/ can you give me a break down

fuel pump power wire to.... then to.....

Sorry but i just want to geth this &@1# thing installed. thank you so much for your help

radio was easiest for me and the radio and pump turn off with the key. If I want to sit there in the acc mode I use the toggle switch and turn off the pump. I do sometimes use the toggle switch as a theft deterrent, the car will only run about a minute without the pump running.
I bought my relay at Advance Auto, it was a generic relay that was $4 or $5. I don't have the exact diagram but it seems that the terminals across each other were the "pairs".
