Electric fuel pump?

Anyone put an electric inline fuel pump on their I6? Just curious whats involved and if there is any preference on pumps? I have no love for the mechanical fuel pumps ever since the one on my 302 in my f150 failed when I was in high school. The motor has the stock 1bbl carb and the car does a lot of sitting around.

you can put a pump on it just fine make sure its not pushing more then 7 psi the carb wont like it might have to use a regulator to control the output

do they need some kinda block-the-hole-up-plate screwed on? Would that B it?
Also some pull and some push - whadda ya do regarding that in this case?

"...might have to use a regulator to control the..."
pressure out
Humm, sounds like the discussion I just got ed-u-macated in thru another thread here (offy tripower) this wk.
(depends on which carb & output of pump.)

holly regulator + f. psi gauge just might B the answer here too.

look under the thread on the list (offy tripower) if you'd liike 'Sortafast...'

ya they sell block off plates for fords that cover the hole left by the manual fuel pump. and yes you may need a Fuel pressure regulator to control the fuel pressure because if you dont you could cause the needle to get stuck open in your carb and flood you're engine. i think most carb can take up to 7lb but some may like lower like webers are 4-5.

I made a Pump block off out of 1/4 aluminum using the gasket as a template , Get a Fuel pressure regulator , I have experimented on all the popular 1brl's and non like over 5 psi some even less a fuel pump can be had for less than 40 bucks , mount it as close to the gas tank , and below it for best results , all pumps push better than they draw
