All Small Six Electric low pressure high volume gravity fed fuel pump on 66

This relates to all small sixes

I picked up an Edlebrock 4-7 psi 38gph electric fuel with the intent of replacing stock mechanical pump. With a gravity fed pump on a 65-66, do most use the existing pickup or is the plug hole at the bottom of the tank used?

Depends, some pumps will not pull fuel up well and some pull up the tank height fine, if mounted low by the tank. What model number?

Is the problem fuel will back-flow to tank and lose prime if mounted in engine bay ?.

Never used that type but mounted an inline using original fuel pickup in front bottom of tank:
.
uses' exhaust rubber hangers to the tank strap member and an oversize filter.

( For safety, electric pump systems should incorporate at least an oil pressure switched power source ( with ign,/start bypass) in case of a fault/leak in fuel supply. Factory setups typically also include a rollover valve for worst case scenarios ...)

( oil pressure port tapped for Fuel Pump safety oil pressure I ign bypass switch, SC oil line feed, original idiot lamp switch and NHRA compliant metallic cabin mechanical oil pressure gauge line.)

have fun

Yes, Power Band, some pumps will not work if it is trying to pump air, and all pumps do not like to suck.
ncpe2001 I searched the instructions, and it says to mount within one foot of the tank and as low or lower than the lowest part of the tank. It says nothing about reworking the pickup, so I see no need to not to use the stock location. Just make sure that you follow the ins.

Spent the day fabricating a bracket that mounts the new pump just infront and a little below the original pickup using an elbow from the tank plug location to feed via gravity.20220103_205223.jpg

How is your new pump working noise wise? I'm asking because my elec. pump is very noisy and I may replace it.
