Exhaust header brand ID?

I've got this header, a 6 into 2 unit. I am curious if someone can ID the brand of it?

Only number on the flange is stamped 423.

Cool! Cyclone, I think. The collector patterns are something I reckon would sound great with twin turbos or no crossover duals.

I wonder why they didn't stagger the pulses with the fireing order?
There has to be a reason for this.

Noise!
Going for the glug-glug-glug-glug-glug V8 sound at the expense of balnced pulses. I have a set of what I believe are cyclones as well. Same exhaust order at least, and there is no other way to describe the sound. The "glug" is a bit harsher than a V8, as a V8 has some alternating cylinders mixed in.

So we have a riceboy header for an I6? It looks like a speed part and makes your car sound mean but it actually produces less power than a proberly designed, quieter unit?

They'll sell a million of 'em.

I'd use them!

Then again, I'm the kind of person who thinks a Falcon wagon with aircon, is a good car to own.

SR, how many HP do you think it would lose over a real-world installed 123/456 collector system? I mean, one with perhaps less than ideal installation conditions or bends.

I bet they would sound pretty good though, it looks like they hit 153-624 At idle you'd dump 3 out one side then 3 out the other at a 500 rpm idle it would really be noticeable. And i would think that they would probally scavange pretty good at rpm and lope hard at idle. I'd sure as stink try them out.

Amen to that.
They aren't as efficient as 123-456 headers at the top end, but they are light years ahead of a stock manifold.
The starter isn't the problem, the A/C compressor is the problem. Measure compressor bracket, chop, weld, install, swear, drink beer, re-measure, re-chop, re-weld, re-install.

You missed my recent purchase. A factory aircon/alt bracket for 2V with headers. Got it for $40 off "brownman". Yet to see if it will fit a Sanden compressor.

Since I don't drink and can't weld, I had to be practical!

the pictured header seems to have the tubes gathered in the collectors with the firing order 1-5-3-6-2-4

this does not perform well?

They'll perform fine. A huge improvement over the stock exhaust manifold. The thing about your set of headers (and a set I have like them) is that they dump three consecutive pulses into one collector and then three consecutive pulses into the other collector. Ggglig-ggglug-ggglig-ggglug.
They are unbalanced headers. Some amount of performance is lost because each collector gets fully loaded up alternately.
Balanced headers fire each pulse into alternating collectors, for a nice even -balanced- flow. This also improves scavenging effects considerably.
As for being "Rice-ish", Ford I6 unbalanced headers have been around for 45 years. A classic hotrod accessory. Just like noisy gear drives, and cherry bomb mufflers.
Addo, take some pics of that a/c bracket if you can, eh?

Rick,
do you have any scans of historic advertisements showing headers on ford sixes?

The donor motor:

Now someone will pipe up and say "That's not for aircon, you know..."

Mustang Geezer's site has some old articles showing about everything you could think of. The 1960 144 based "stroker" with 6 carbs and zoomie headers looks nice.

Unfortunately, a ton of people hit the site, and it often exceeds it's bandwidth quota. So, kind of spotty access.
