Hey guys,

Any of you have some tips for installing an exhaust system and keeping it from leaking?
Are the u bolt clamps ok to use?
I have one issue with the 2 1/4 muffler not clamping on the 2 1/4 pipe. Should I notch the muffler like most exhaust kits do their slip joints?

As of now I'm using 2 1/4 joint band clamps everywhere except on the outlet of the mufflers where my hangers are and where the header pipes connect to the X pipe.

Thanks guys

I thought about going to those guys and having them build me a system, but needed up getting a starter kit from Matt and bought my mufflers and tail pipes from a mustang company.
Do they sell any exhaust components there?

oddly enuff I C a few of the hi end cars using the 'universal' hangers. They tack it to the underbody panel (no screws), spray it (base then 'undercoating") and use the ol school U clamp (which wuz base & flat blked B4 assembly). Not what I thought but due to the extra care taken in driving conditions it seems to work...

Both these cars had stainless systems welded at all seams (collectors back, couldn't see up ahead of that due 2 bein on da lift)..

I may get it welded up later down the road, but trying to just get the joints tight right now and keep the exhaust from leaking. I will say that I love the exhaust pipe setups from Matt. I did have to get an extra 10" on each side in front of the muffler, but the whole set up works perfect with the headers that Matt is selling now.
Oh, I'm not sure if I mentioned this, but those headers work with a 250 inline 6 in a 69 mustang. They are tight by the starter, but you can get a heat shield wrap and put on the starter and you are good to go. I do think the mini starter is nessasery for those headers on the 250.
