I have the ol Merc Zephyr 200 six 1982 preheat cat coffee can style exhaust manifold, And am wanting to replace this to just a regular type exhaust mani, What year of cars should I be looking on ?

Anything without the big pre-cat.

All ex manifolds will bolt to all heads....but you will have the best luck finding something in the 70's I am sure.

The casting on my exhaust manifold is D0xx so it is 1970 or later.

When you say all , does this include the 250 exh mani also?

Thank-you
Bold letters so it would stand out in the crowd. : )

Howdy Joe:

I prefer '66 - '68 exhaust manifolds for fewer taps and bungs for more and more EPA required stuff.

FYI 200 & 250 exhaust manifolds are Identical by casting number and suffix. There is a well established myth that the 250s had a different/better exhaust manifold. If someone can substantiate the myth I'd love to hear it.

Joe- Linc's advice about anything other than the quick light cat hanger manifold is correct. But you would also do well to replace your whole system with a 2" system and a turbo type muffler. Check your local laws on the legality of removing your main cat. If you still have it it should be replaced.

Which cars have stock 2" manifolds that will fit on the 200?

Pretty much any 200-250 manifold you find in the junkyard.

I am pretty sure my old 1970 Maverick with a 170 had a 2" manifold and pipe - it was a strange duck.
