Exhaust question

Hey Guys, I was going to have a local muffler shop put a new exhaust system on my 64.5 mustang and, they recommened that i go with a magnaflow with it. Will that make it sound like a ricer or will it sound decent. Because it if sounds like a ricer I don't want to have it done. Since I can't stand that sound.

no it probly will not sound like a ricer... This is what clifford performance recomends to use on a six cylinder. Depending on the eficiency of your motor and the mufflers it most likely will produce a deep and powerfull sound but not as loud at flowmasters.. This is a great choice.

Thanks for the response. Actually the engine is out of a 70 maverick. I have the 170 that was in it, but it died last august and i found this one that had been rebuilt at my uncles junkyard. Somebody had fully restored a maverick and then wrapped it around a tree. But the engine runs really well. The only thing i don't like about it is with the stock exhaust it doesn't really make much of a sound at all. Other then the normal straight six noise.

A lot of people here that have flowmasters don't really like them. I think they will be loud, but that is all based on personal opinion. Loud is relative.

I LOOOOVE my Flows, 50series. Finally fixed my window and rolled them all up and you couldnt hear them, it was crazy. Roll them down and you can hear the thunder, its awesome!!!!! Definitely check out some flowmaster 50's!!!!! Check out my site to see my set-up too if you like!

Just got the 64.5 back from the shop yesterday. it only took the guy about 2 hours. It sounds so nice now. Before it was called the stealth car, but not now

I have a 65 coupe with a 200 in it and i used aa 2 3/4 pipe with a V-force muffle. WOW sounds like a V8. It make that nice gurgle sound that everyone wants, but when you hit that gas people can hear you from a mile away.

Yea my muffler just fell off, so i'm currently running about 6 ft of straight pipe. Bloody loud but it does sound awesome , just not enough back pressure so i think i'll go with single to dual exhaust for now ( just go to the wreckers and pick up something that has single to duel and hope it fits my car)
