Exhaust questions

I am building a mild 200 (am, 2 barrel, header) for my '62 Ranchero. The end result would be to have side exhaust ahead of the rear wheels if possible. My headers are split ss with 2" outlets. Do I go into an h or pipe first, go right into then mufflers and can I get all this to exit where I want it too? Can the headers go right into a 2 in, 2 out muffler, use it as the x pipe and then off to the exit point?
Also, should I keep 2" through the whole system or even neck it down to 1.75". I can not find a 2" universal x-pipe anywhere, 2.25" is the smallest.

thanks, Bill

I think you should do a X or H atleast or you might end up sounding like a 3 cyl.
They say the X is better but the H sounds nicer.
I myself want the set of CI because it's already bent, that one uses a X.

And bigger is better if we're talking about exhausts that's what I have been told.

Twin 2" is just, that's what I use.

X or H rated, well it depeds on what you can weld up.

X pipes are my favorite, but they take a little more thought to execute.

The best chart that is helpful:-l

The general rule is the smaller sizes.

There are other very good charts around too, but this won't get you into a heated exhaust backpressure, horsepower and flow rate argument.
