hi like to know how many of you have a modified 170 or 144, with some special parts, and what are their top speeds, 0-60 and 1/4 mile times if its possible.
I run my orginal 170 at 75mph all the time....only real mods are a 2" exhaust, .020" milled head and a pretronix...prob could go faster once I get the 1100 carb on this weekend (if all goes well)
17 and dumb my bone stock 66 200 Mustang went almost 110 on the Dulles Toll Road before it sucked the headliner out of the car. Which by the way scared the crap out of me...
God I was dumb....
Now my 911 will hit 140 easy and be smooth as glass.
My stock 65 Comet (200-3/spd.-3.90:1) has done a little over the 100 mark on the Speedo several times. I generally keep it about 70 on the highway tho, she don't seem to enjoy winding that far!
i have a 200 mustang w/C4
Was coming back to town on the freeway and raced a buddy and i hit an indicated 120. Thats with 14 inch tires, but larger profile. Not sure what kind of error is involved.
At the SCTA march meet I ran 141 mph with the 2.80 gears in and 15" tires at something like 6100 rpm on race gas. the ranch got a little light in the rear and I had to shut it down.
With my bone stock '66 200/3spd/3.20 Mustang, I've dome 85 easily on the highway, not floored, just keeping up with traffic. When I get my chrome valve cover on, it should do a lot better.
Well before the rebulid in stock trim and 14' tires I hit 120 on the speedo with my 200 and 3.03 3 speed. Though I'm sure that isn't quite accurate... any thoughts to what my real speed would have been?
Modern Motor (now just Motor) in their Jan '63 issue reported 85.3 mph from a '63 Futura sedan with a 170, Fordomatic, 3.5 ratio, and 13" tyres.
In the May '64 issue they got 96.3 mph from a '64 Futura sedan with a 200, Fordomatic, 3.5 ratio, and 13" tyres.
