Finally 2V

I now own a 2V head, its a 1973 casting, excellent condition, with alloy manifold, and 350 Holley, Fanta orange rocker cover, i missed the original style air cleaner. Head i can almost bolt straight on, was off a running 250 that was rebuilt for another head. i will do the valve stem seals and may give the head a bath. Not sure on what i will end up doing with this head as i have a blower manifold to go with it. It won’t be shaved, i will do some big valves and clean up the ports, its will get a set of 1 7/8ths pipes on it. So port matching to out to manifold and and pipes will be done. As far as ports go, there big stock, no need to go silly in there you guys think?

Yes most happy about it Bubba, been a long time coming. It was 12 months ago this month that i had laid down the cash for a 2V head, Triples and roller rockers, but the seller was a deviate and was selling GOOGLE images, didn’t own anything. So it took me months to get over that and a week to get my cash back. I almost said the WINDSOR word. and this was after i missed out on the cut off log Lynx head and triples i had on hold. My last part i missed out on was when a so called mate shafted me on buying a McGee Mechanical injection manifold for a 200 pre.......then there was the NOS Edelbrock rocker cover i missed for under 200, and the Falcon scripted one that a member here had........but this time around it was meant to be. Head goes to machine shop today........

I also lost out on a 2V and intake they are quite rare here in the US, had it bough and sent the Western Union money order the seller was an honest guy but he never got my payment he continued to wait and later on for me to resend the payment. My guess it was purloined in the US Mail on the way to him! Western Union said no one tried to cash it but then they would not refund my money without a fee and a form submitted to them it would be 30 days or more. The seller waited but since I could not get my refund in a reasonable amount of time and did not have the extra cash to pay a second time I told him to go ahead and sell it to the next person that had wanted it. :bang:

Keep us post on the results with the 2V installed I will be looking forward to know the difference in power and drive ability . Best of luck at the races.

I dropped the head manifold and rocker cover at the machine shop today, on first inspection it was noted how large the inlet valves were, so these at some stage have been changes, should find out Wednesday what i need to do to the head, the centre port needs a small weld job to build it back up and then machine flat, a couple of tapered plugs where the choke holes were, thee manifold i have an adapter for so we will hog that out also. With this work i reckon i am looking at a genuine 50 percent increase. i also have a modified 2 Barrel Holley and range of jets. I’d be happy with 50 percent, but times at the track and better drivability will be what i am really after. It takes X amount of power to get mine to chug along at highway speed, using less HP to the same speed, might be a good result. I race in 2 weeks, if it can be done i will have it ready, if not i also race in 3 weeks time so i could do it between rds. If the planet and stars are lined up.....

Good news on the head, its and substantial dollars spent on it by a previous owner. Hardened seats, new guides to suit ULP or Gas, large inlet valves, blending done. Needs little more than the choke tube holes welded up and a little weld build up and reface on the centre exhaust port. So we will face up all surfaces. Port out the factory alloy manifold, i have a modded 350 carb to go on thats ready to go. Hope to do this by end of the month.

 excellent glad to hear that the head is in such good condition!

On my way down to get the head now, drop off to another mate to have the welding done. Australia has 3 very big swap meets, one is in Toowoomba where i live, i have been going to it for 25 years. Last year there were 3 2v heads there, this year by all accounts there was 2. Toowoomba is the second largest swap. So the heads are getting scarce. To make matters worse there a few dud heads getting around that are continually being brought and sold. These heads are probably fixable if you had the money and got them cheap. I could easily sell this head. My future plans called for a very good stock height head and i have that and with the other mods already done, its like someone knew this was exactly what i needed. I’ll get some pictures up later.
