I was looking for vacuum leaks today and using smoke is the safest way to do this. Well I had no idea how to get smoke into my intake so I got creative. I put a plastic bag over the carburetor and put the carb hat on snug over it. I disconnected one of the manifold vacuum lines (I used the tube that goes to the transmission). I use a vaporizer (the things people use to quit smoking cigarettes). I thought...why not, it's a lot like smoke. I blew into the intake and found the vapor coming out of every vacuum leak I had. And I had plenty. I just wanted to share this as I don't like spraying chemicals into a hot engine compartment right next to my steaming hot header. Nor do you have to find a scrap piece of vacuum tube to shove in your ear to listen for leaks. It's nice because you can do it when the engine is not running.
That is all. I hope this helps someone.
