I am building a mild 250 street engine for my 66 Mustang. Are there any performance advantages or disadvantages to running an aluminum flywheel vs steel flywheel?

Engine will have OZ head with Autolite 2100, Clay Smith 264 cam, dual headers, DS II ingition, 5-speed, 8" rearend with 3:50 gears.

recommendations/comments appreciated

8) a steel flywheel being heavier will help the car launch easier, but an aluminum flywheel will allow the engine to rev quicker. for the street i would go with the steel flywheel.

Aluminum flywheels typically need a little more clutch finesse, but losing rotational mass means more powah. I approve. The one in my 240SX made a noticeable difference for the better in both turbo spool time and overall feel. For the street, aluminum wins hands down in my book.
