for those who want a new air cleaner..

I got this one at pep boys today for $22. the only problem is that if I didnt have the hood scoop it would not have fit under the hood, right now I got about 1/4-1/2 inch of clearence between the top of the wing nut and the underside of the scoop. just something for you guys to consider who want to replace their aircleaner, I know thats been a popular subject of dicussion latley

I got a really nice 14" chrome air cleaner from mustangs unlimited that fits one barrel carbs. You can see it at www.mustangsunlimited.com and order online if you want. Part # AC3 01 ... $36.95

I had to enlarge the carb opening a bit to get it to fit but it looks great. If I knew how to post a pic on this site I would. I have it on a 1971 Maverick with a 250. Fits under the hood but just barely.

go to http://imageshack.us click "browse" find your pic on your computer and hit "host it" it gives you a bunch of diffrent codes to use to post images on forums or e mails or whatever. just found it the other day, works great you dont have to set up an account or anything.

I tried one of those 4" ones on my '83 200 and it sucked in so much that the filter itself was dirty within 2 months. They look cool, but it was starving the car for air. I took it off and installed a larger diameter filter but the same height. works like a charm.

My stock air cleaner was beat up and ready for paint chips to fall into the carb. Rather than mess with adapters and fabrications I just sanded the bottom of the old air cleaner down and used that for a base, with this $20 14" Mr Gasket (found at any chain store) on top. Had to saw off a couple inches from the center bolt, other than that plenty of clearance...

im running one oh those air cleaners but not with that filter,im just running chicken wire and a peice of house window screen
