I have a 66 mustang with the straight six 200. Right now the exhaust is basically stock and I'm looking to upgrade. Here's what I want, I want a mean muscular sound out of the six so that people assume its got a V8 in it and I want a little better performance. So I don't know what to do header wise. I was told that a 6 into 1 header then split into duels out the back would sound good and I heard a 6 into 2 with duels all the way out would sound more like a Honda. What do I do header wise, and I'm on a budget... School and a job doesn't allow for a lot of fun money if you know what I mean. So 6 into 1 header or 6 into 2 header for a mean growling sound?

I'd definitely go for a 6 into 2. Search for sound clips, there are several.

Actually, a 4-2 split manifold sounds the best. Doesn't do much for performance though.

Flowmaster 40 Series with 2" pipe. Make sure they fab it up like a Vxiii with the pipe straight back and the hump over the rear axle, NOT with the transverse pee-wee muffler of the stock 6, mounted over the axle. Mine sounds real throaty, has a real nice bite if I get on it and does not drone until well above what I drive at, like 80.
