There's a lot of fun stuff to look at on this unit. Dad thinks it came off a Swather.

If I ever needed to run a motor (144/170/200) outside a car, this thing has the perfect frame, fuel tank over the engine, bellhousing adapter, and radiator..

Cold Air Intake with custom plumbing for a Holley 1bbl.. :) and a cracked exhaust manifold :(

I had better make some plans to swipe this before Dad gets rid of it...come to think of it, the neighbor has an Industrial 300 that I should give a good home to also.. (Dad's Cousin)

There is a good spot to have a crack in an exhaust manifold? I guess I never knew that... why is the center such a great spot?

It was a joke. But it is also a good spot because it is hottest there and it will close when the metal heats up. And that is why it cracks there, because it expands so much.

It is amazing were these engines are found and the various uses.

I would just be happy it was the manifold and NOT the head that cracked... I am sure there are others on here that have 'broken ears' on their heads... I have one on a '68 200.

:D Another use for the 200 and 300 6`s was portable irrigation pumps. We used a bunch of them in the citrus groves in Fl where I grew up.They had the screw type pumps attached.I believe the correct name of that type is the"Archimedes Screw" type pump.Real efficient pump.At one time we had 25 in operation every day for about 2 1/2 months.24/7.
Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

I have a 65 200 with a broke off ear on the front of the ex. manifold it looks like some one tryed to JB Weild with an extra peice of gasket. An ideas for repairs.

Well.... I can't say this is 'right or wrong' but if you have the original piece you should be able to disassemble your head, heat it up and stick (ARC) weld it back together using some high nickel content welding rod.

If you don't have the missing peice you can look for some other random peice of cast iron and shape it to fit the missing part and try the same.

For the head I have I considered just milling the whole thing off intake and exhaust, bandsaw first followed by a mill job. Then making new intake/exhaust manifolds and drilling/tapping new manifold bolt holes. I don't have to worry about saving this head as I have many others that I can use that do not require the repair.

good luck
