Hello,

Can anyone point me to a source of information on the Ford Australia 4.0L DOHC I6?
Is this engine still called a "Crossflow", and is it only available in Australia?
Specifically, I'm looking for...

--its initial year of introduction
--its weight (including fluids)
--availability to the US as an import
--ballpark figure for export in Australian Dollars.
--emissions equipment requirement differences between current (2005) Australian engines
and current (2005) US emissions equipment differences.

Thanks,
Burzin

Can't answer all your questions, and before you start getting PM's from people who think they can sell you something, I'll throw in some thoughts.

It's not known as a crossflow here. Just ask about a "BA XR6" engine.

You really want the driveline, or at least a motor and box "pair". Plus the harness. Wrecked badly from the rear forward, a whole car could run you USD$7.5K and up at the true salvage auctions (not the pretend ones on weekends for the "Mum and Dad" dreamers). Pay somewhat more for a turbo version. You'll need to pay an experienced wrecker to cull the car - or possibly cut a deal; you don't need interior, wheels etc.

It's going to make a big crate. There's probably USD$200 in crating materials and labour. Then you have pickup from craters to consolidators, shipping, documentation, taxes and fork fees your side.

The emissions should be quite passable, or able to be tweaked with the necessary aftermarket gear used in a transplant. It will obviously reflect the state of wear inside your motor.

Yep, it'd make an interesting transplant, but certainly not the easiest!

Cheers, Adam.
