found a 77 pinto 5200 rebuilt good/bad choice?

Just wanted any feedback regarding this carb if i switch out the jets to proper sizing this should do ok. Got the car running but now i cant stop messing with it.

Its cheap thats why it caught my eye, im going to be putting in a ds2 so i need to get rid of the 1100. For now just going to use a clifford adapter. Next summer maybe do head work for direct if i have the money. Thanks for any thoughts as always.

I haven't run the 5200 so I can't speak to that, but make sure you have the throttle linkage and mounting orientation thought through before you spend money on something that might not be that easy to adapt.

I am running this same carb (Holley 5200) on my '73 250 cu in six. It adapted very easily - I have the cable-type throttle on my '73 Maverick.

I checked the referenced Ebay ad and it looks like they want $149 for that carburetor.

I just wanted to point out the you can get a rebuilt version of the same carb at Stovebolt Engine Company for $75. I bought my carb, some rebuild kits and even some Holley carburetor jets from Tom Langdon at Stovebolt. He provided me great service.

A good running H/W 5200 is a good drivable carb choice. The Weber 32/36 based design is well suited to the 170/200/250 providing low CFM primary smooth slow speed response and the progressive opening secondary provides greater cfm when throttle demands. Adapters are readily available and OEM or cable throttle is minor mod. Getting it "dialed in" for your driving application may be simple or a challenge. 5200's were used in many small 4 cylinder cars from Chrysler, Ford, GM and rebadged foreign makes, some versions seem less adaptable .
