Still having trouble with my 73 maverick with 250 and holley 5200. I have a clear fuel filter installed in-line between the pump and carb. This filter rarely ever fills up and often only shows a small amount of fuel in the bottom of it when the car is running. Is this normal? The car is still quitting on me intermittently. Ive cleaned the entire fuel sustem including the tank, which was really clean anyway, new fuel lines, fuel pump etc.
Any ideas?

My clear filter never quite fills up either. And tends to empty out about half when stopped. Car runs okay fine. And starts back up, and I'm guessing with idle fuel flow will never get quite full.

I had horrible fuel problems a while back. Then, per the advice of others, i replaced the tank, lines, pump, etc...still no luck. Turns out, (best guess at least) that the car i had used was in bad shape from the bad gas/gas tank....once I rebuilt the carb things were great again....good luck!

I have a 72 mav rust bucket from IL. It has lots of trash in the gas tank. I put a clear fuel filkter on it where the hard line comes into the engine compartment and interfaces with a rubber line. I notice that the clear filter would not fill up when the carb float was open and would drain back to almost nill when the float was closed. I would run the car periodically to keep every thing in working order but often when the car was idling it would die. I finaly found a crack in the rubber line. After replacement the clear fuel filter is full all the time and the car runs without stoping. I think the rubber line was bleading air into the fuel lines causing the observed symtoms. If you have not already I would suggest you track down every piece of rubber hose in your fuel system and replace them and assure the fit tight. Those rubber hoses are sneaky little devils so look the hole system over.

Good Luck
