Fuel Pump Question

Newer style pump, no filter, with one screw style fitting, one barbed. Which is the inlet? I put it on and forgot to see if it was marked. Stupid question I know, but need to route my lines and everything is totally new.

I'm pretty sure the barbed one is for the inlet (rubber hose from frame), and the threaded one is the outlet (steel line to the carb).

It oughta be marked "in" "out", but lots of things oughta be...

If you can crank the engine, I'd think you could see which one has suction with your thumb, or you could stick a rubber hose into a can of gas and see if it picks any up or blows bubbles into it.

New rebuild, never fired it up. My builder is going to come to the house for first fireup and break in the cam. Trying to get everything right since he's good enough to do that. I'm not even going to turn it over till then. Carb came in today. Still have all the wiring to do so it'll be a while yet. Frame off build.

Thanks guy's. Changed it last nite. A lot easier now with the front clip off and no gas. Not to mention the embarrassment when we crank it up.
