The 61 Comet was a 3 on the tree, but now we have a C4 in it.
I rigged up a way to shift it through the gears by hooking up a rod from one of the shifting arms to the shift lever on the tranny.

Problems;
Shifting order is upside down. When colum shifter is all the way down it is in Park (1-2-D-N-R-P)

It will be ok for now while we are working out the bugs.
But it is a pain because it's real touchy going through the gears.
I'd rather not cut a hole for a floor mounted shifter, although they look the best, but they are also a couple hundred bucks.

I know to do a cable actuated kick down, you flip the arm over so it's a pull insted of push.
Can the same be done for the shift arm?

Yes thats the way it works..
I'd try to flip the arm on the tranny so it points down then the pattern would be right...
Its still going to be touchy as there isn't much resistance with just the tranny notiches.. realy need to get a shifter.. check out the junk yards and such...

:D When the shift tube in my 74 F100 died,I got a complete floor shifter from a Maveric for $20.00 from a junk yard.AND they pulled it to boot.This was in about 1990.
