Good Carb/Good buy?

Just saw a rebuilt holley 500/350 2 barrel manual choke in my trader magazine for $95.00. First will this be a good carb on a 78 and later head, and is it reasonable in price? I have seen holley's sell for 3 or 4 hundred, sounds good and it is local. What are your opinions, knowing of course you can't judge what you haven't seen. I want something to run while I fabricate the fi system. :?:

i got a holley on my 223 6cyl i just got from a wrecker in edmonton, i just like it cuz its a holley i didnt know if they were factory or aftermarket tho on these motors ,its only a single barrel tho not like the 2 barrels on my dads old dodge 318, personally tho im a holley man so id grab it

The way I read the add he has 2 carbs one flowing 500cfm and the other 350cfm--both selling at 95 a piece...which one do I need???, I will probably port the head/exhaust and it is the 1.750 opening so do I need to do any other mods to benefit from the extra flow from the carb? This guy must rebuild and sell these things he has others in the mag 600/750 4v.

For a Log head, the 350 will be more then enough for just about anything short of forced air induction.

Just plan on rebuilding it.

Well, I went and looked at what the guy had today and I bought the 2300-500cfm. It is too much carb with the stock head setup, but if I port and open up the bowls, add a little compression say 10:1 and put a turbo on it, get one of those dual pattern cams and some of those Hi-Falutin hi flow valves and maybe the 1.6 roller rocker, it ought to run alright. And as soon as I have the dollars, I want one of those 7quart performance pans and a dual roller timing chain...what do you think----anything else. :D

Okay, Okay, I'm excited, maybe 10:1 is a little high for a turbo, but lets say I can't afford the turbo right now..how about 10:1 with dual out headers and maybe a great deal on a supercharger off of e-bay. :P

It's okay, it's alright, be patient with me,,,I'm cycling through my manic phase right now.

lol...i know what thats like, and then the budget reality check comes in. I got desperate cause i couldnt even afford a 2bbl at the time so i went and bored out my 1bbl, lol. It does flow better and gives more performance than when it was stock....but first things first. I figgure I'm gonna start with raised compression and a port/polish, milled intake to accept a 2bbl but with an adapter for the 1bbl so i dont need to buy the 2bbl right away, then i think i'll get a header and complete my exhaust. then leave it for awhile as i do my carpet and trunk....geeez...i can stay broke for quite some time, i think i should stop for awhile on the car
