Got my car back, few questions

Ok,
I got my car back, it runs really nice, a little hot for me, but it seems consistent. Would the mods I did make it run hotter? Also, I noticed that the car is smoking. Not horribly like Uncle Buck's car (if youve seen the movie) but enough that when sitting at a light you can see it lofting from the sides and eventually in front of the car, its real light greyish black smoke. I am just wondering if its just the engine getting used to runnign again, the new mods breaking in including the new exhaust or a combination. Guys have any ideas, a) how to get it to run cooler b) why its smoking, is it normal and will stop or what
Let me know guys, it doesnt really worry me but I would like it to stop, lol

The Emblem is making it run hotter...

It may just be your Temp Sending unit. Don't place a lot of stock in the gauge, use a mechanical gauge to verify the temperatures.

The greyish black smoke may be from the new exhaust burning off stuff on the outside. Otherwise, you may be running rich and have an exhaust leak at the same time.

I was thinkin it may be the new exhaust burnin. Dan tuned the carb real nice so it shouldnt be runnin lean, but you never know. I dont know if it is an exhaust leak, the motor is amazingly quiet! In fact, you really dont hear it at all, all the noise comes from the side pipes. Oh well, hope it gives up, it stinks and makes me stink too, lol

The smoking bit sounds like maybe rubber in contact with the exhaust. Wiring insulation, perhaps? Possible also (but unlikely) is fuel dripping onto the headers. My tranny used to drip ATF onto the headers, from the filler tube, and it'd smoke after sitting.

Cheers, Adam.

Oh no, all the smoke is from the exhaust tips themselves, so its coming from inside. I took it out yesterday and it still smokes, but it didnt seem as bad. I just hope it will eventually go away!

Just drove it around today, smoke isnt as bad now on the driver's side, but still noticable on the passenger. I did a trick I saw at the mechanics after gettin back to school cause it seemed the passenger side muffler was making more of a pinging noise than the other. Still runs beautiful, but when I put a piece of paper up to the passenger tip, it would blow out and try to suck back in over and over again. Then I did it on the drivers side and it stayed blown out the entire time. Whats this mean. Again, not a BIT of engine noise, no pings, knocks nothing, but it makes a bit of a metal pinging noise out of the passenger side, nothing alarming, but a different than the driver's side. Anybody know whats up and what I should do?
