Ok, I dropped my head off late Monday morning and picked it up mid afternoon on Wed. I think that was great by itself, but there is more. The machinist that worked on my motor in the past told me that he was trying to track down some bronze valve guides for my exhaust valves. It took a few phone calls, but he found them. If anyone needs a part # and manufacture info, let me know and I'll get it. The machinist told me that the steel guides would work fine, but he would much rather go with the bronze type because they are self lubricating. My exhaust valve stems were in bad shape and I told the machinist if he felt they needed to be replaced to go ahead and replace them all, so I also got new exhaust valves. It ran me a little more than the amount I was told, but all in all I am happy. Tomorrow AM I will get my intake bolts and two bolts that I plan to use as a guide to put the head in place. The adjustment for the hydraulic lifter / adjustable roller tipped rockers sounds simple and straight forward. The machinist said adjust the roller tip on the TDC compression stroke for each cylinder. Tighten the roller down till it just makes contact with the rod and then tighten 1/2 to 3/4 turn further and lock them down. I should be ready to drive it by mid-afternoon Thursday. I am going to buy some of Mike's locking header bolts on Friday. When I am done installing them I'll let the car set for a few hours and then fire her up. Keep you fingers crossed, I might be walking to work on Monday if there is a problem......
Thanks everyone for your help, especially Mike.
