 $600.oo
I guess its not that bad but he said $200.oo when I first talked to him but that was befor I had him mill it down and all new valves and seats.
Anyway
What is the TQ on the head bolts, the rocker shaft and Fly wheel?
well grade 8 washer work Ok under the head bolts or do they need to be the harden ones only...
Thanks
tim

Howdy Tim:

It would really be a good idea for you to invest in a Shop Manual.

What is the TQ on the head bolts-70 -75 Ft-Lbs

the rocker shaft- 30 - 35 Ft-Lbs

Fly wheel- 75- 85 Ft-Lbs

Will grade 8 washer work Ok under the head bolts or do they need to be the harden ones only... Grade 8 washers should work fine.

Machining for the hardened seat inserts and fitting the new valves probably ran the cost up.

Adios, David

Tim, David gave you the torque spec's you need. but make sure you put sealer on the flywheel or flexplate bolts to prevent oil leakage at the rear crankshaft area.
Also see my previous posts on the dryest way to install the rear main oil seal. William

You need to torque the head bolts in three stages. From memory, 50-65-75. Allow settling time between all stages; at least long enough for a cup of coffee. Preferably overnight for the second to final torquings.

I buy plated grade eight washers; they appear to be out of some type ground steel as they are extremely consistent in thickness, and very hard. Best of all, they are less than 30¢ each.
