Grinning from ear to ear

Do the pics have to be hosted some where?

Yup, just go to photobucket and register there. then use the
tags

here goes nothing...first attempt at this posting thing...pardon the dirty underside of the car...need to have it steam cleaned!

Pipes routed above the plate and inside the transmisson/driveshaft tunnel

fabricated x-pipe..not as pretty as wsa111's setup, but due to the convertible steel plate, it needs to be fitted in a tighter space. Sound qaulity is terrific. NO DRONE!!

Picture of the engine bay showing the Pacemaker header...Jet Hot coated

As I think I mentioned earlier, the mufflers are magnaflow XLs. I had a local muffler shop do the work and the total cost including mufflers was $350. I thought the work was pretty good and the price reasonable.[/img]

holy crap your engine is nice... that doesnt sound too bad as it is all custom and you figure a catback for a ricer runs around 400 for sometihng cheaper.

Wow, what a clean car! Very nice!

Before you load your photobucket pictures, you can make them smaller.

 OK guys, I have an embarassing confession to make   . I removed the magnaflows today and replaced them with a universal, stock type muffler. While it was fun for a few days, the wife complained the exhaust was too loud and since I live on a hill, it was pretty noticable when I was under load coming up the hill (my neighbor mentioned I sounded like log truck with mufflers torn off  ) The neighbor has no clue, but the wife I need to live with!

Honestly, I think the magnaflows are great for those looking for a performance muffler that is a tad pit tamer than the flows. With the x-pipe, I experienced no drone and at cruise the car was quiet. It had a wonderful rumble at idle. However, under load and putting your foot into it, it could get pretty aggressive. I am also surprised though at the sound I am getting from the stock muffs...noticeably better than before when I had single exhaust. Really not to bad!! Somewhere between the old stock single and the mangaflows.

....now you are free to throw rotten fruit at me

No big deal, two tube and baffle mufflers still VAST outflow the old stock set-up!! You might even have a little more low end torque.

I'd be interested in buying the magnaflows off of you.

Sorry Linc, but the muffler shop I am using traded them with me. They felt they could sell the magnaflows used for an acceptable price so we went that route and they threw in the labor to change them out. I thought it was a pretty good deal. I know the magnaflows are more expensive, but they were used by me and then the labor to replace..... Still, you are right about the what seems to be pretty good flow and low end torque. Also, as I said in the previous post, I'm getting pretty good sound :D

It's in his second pic. Not really a "pipe" there, the two pipes just touch and are welded together. Like in Okefenokee's setup.

It is before the plate. Just cut a section from each pipe and weld the two together. To angle the X wider would only work if you decided to drop the X-pipe below the plate. I like having the pipes tucked up and it seems to work great.

Mandrel bent 2½" system, with a glasspack under the rear seats. You're somewhat constrained by the single outlet, and that size exhaust is more than adequate. Could even step down to 2¼" without losing oomph - might cut the drone a little.

Another option would be to run no muffler, just all pipe at first (right to the bumper). Then you can quantify the tones wanted to keep, and those to muffle. It would cost more, but be a decent excuse to drive a week or two with no muffler!

That's exactly what I was thinking 'cause I have the same setup as Ludwig. I was considering use a long 30" Smitty muffler and if that was too much then I'd add a short 22" one behind the rear axle and dump out the side just before the rear bumper on my Ranchero. However, Smitty's come in 2 inch dia. and I think glass packs are larger but in only one length. Keep adding glass packs until you get the desired note?! Glass pack and a small muffler...

Walker / dynomax makes the best glasspacks (uses perforated tube - no louvers in the core) and they come in 3 or 4 lengths, and two core sizes: 2 and 2.5. The 2-1/4 inlet and outlet mufflers use the 2" core.

Just go to summit racing site and enter "dynomax" in the search box
