Has anyone tried to fabricate an "offy"? Harrie?

I was looking at some pics of the offy 3x1 and was thinking, how hard would it be to make one? Just get a 1/2" alum plate. Spend some time with a bandsaw, grinder and drill press and that would be it. Not sure on the linkage, I guess it may take some time to play with to get it right.

Someone like Harrie should be able to pump these thing out left and right.

Or am I missing something???

8) the last one i saw done used two more carb spacers, like you find under the stock carb, that were then mounted at each end of the head. they didnt use the offy adaptor.

Whittling anything out of bar stock is expensive, especially in small quantities. I doubt that a limited run of pieces could be done for less than what Offy gets for their setup. They've paid for the moulds and the engineering long ago

A couple of years back Lyle Bones did up his own triple carb setup. He basically brazed carb flanges onto each end of the log. I asked him about it and he said he did with an oxy-acetylene setup. He had it running pretty good and he and Inliner were to go down to the dragstrip and have it out... THEN, something happened (not sure what), he pulled the motor, sold it here and installed an eight....

Inspiring story with a tragic ending....
