Hi Guys,
About to put on the head. The last gasket (Felpro metal) said not to use a sealant. The new one (Victor Rein???? mostly metal) doesn't say whether to use it or not. Vintage manual says to. Yes or no & what do you guys recommend if it's yes?
Thanks,

Howdy Again David:

Unless the manufacture says otherwise, I'd use sealant.

The OEM shim gaskets needed sealant. This Victor gasket sounds more like a NOS shim type gasket. How thick is it, before installing?

Adios, David

Hi Victor Tech line is 1-800-248-9606. Without seeing the gasket the latest thing gasket manfacturers are doing is applying a clear UV Silicone that acts as a sealant. However I would call Victor to be sure.

Thanks

Chris,
Thanks for the tech line #. I called that & finally got to a techical support guy. They said no sealer on Composite head gaskets. Re-torque only if Ford specs that in the manuals. I think it does.

That's good news since I went ahead & threw it all together last nite without sealer! Maybe it will start up tonite. I didn't measure the gasket or see a thickness on the package, so I have no idea what it is.
Thanks for the help.
