Header for 226

Hi, went on line to Melvinsclassicfordparts.com and found, I assume Fenton exhaust heads part no. 8425 says for 1953-56 223 6 cyl, on page 44 of the New Truck catolog. My question is, we have 49 Ford coupe with the 226 inline six...are these engines the same and does anyone know if this header will fit my 49? Thanks

It may help to place this question in the Vintage Ford Sixes section. You may get a faster response.

This section is for the Falcon Six (144,170,200,250).

The engines are different the 226 engine is a Flathead six, the 223 is an overhead valve six first built in 1954 there would be not be parts interchange between them.

I think Fenton probably made them for the 226 but will be difficult to find now days. If you want to go with headers you can try Reds at link below

Red's Headers makes a set for the H series 226 and 254 Flathead 6. Price is $210. See: http://www.reds-headers.net.
Also Pertronix now makes a 6 volt positive ground conversion for the 48-51. The part# is 1266P6.
