Hi Guy's
I'm gunna fit extractors & 2 1/2" exhaust to my AUIII
dedicated gas Futura, so out of HM,Herrod, JMM & pacemaker
who has got the best test results, and some prices please.
I think JMM are around $1k ??

Any thing that has an independent dyno test to prove the results is the go. I'd look at Herrods, as they have more of a technical link to Ford. But it's hard to buy a bad set of ADR legal headers.

Pay and play. The six will love you for it!

Went to Melbourne yesterday, asked Herrod about system, couldn't get much technical data out of them, just spend $1,500 and it'll sound good.
then went to Jim Mock Motorsports shown heaps & heaps of tech data dyno results etc., a full tour of the workshop, a man with a passion for inline ford 6's. Two type's of system's, normal extractors & 2 1/2" exhaust $980 fitted & dyno'd, race tuned extractors & 2 1/2" exhaust $1,280.
There was no push to go for either system, a true great guy, but if you are going to go to workshop, allow about one hour for the full cook's tour.

Not cynical, but reserved... How many dollars per HP (or kW) is that?

Do they dyno your car before and after, and can you be there both times?

Did you see if they actually made the headers in the workshop? If they are buying in, who's making them? That'd make something a lot of folks would be interested to hear.

If you go with something like this, post some details (pics and results).

Adam.

theres alot of crap and mud slinging reguarding the credibilty of mock's gear,

there own dyno seems to read very high,

i have sen their extractors...... have to say i am un-impressed.

the primarys are only just bigger then the ports themselves, i know this helps with scavenging and high gas speeds, but it leaves me to wonder.. will they be any good to you once you start adding bigger and bettter things to the engine, as the small primay's will hamper flow in future applications

second point i dont like about them is the fact they are press bent pipes, not mandrell bent, which again will hamper flow down the track.

if ur only going to put the extractors and exhaust on to the car and thats it.. well the mocks will be alright.

personly i prefer the pacemaker pipes, they may not be tuned length but they have been proven to work, and work well.
1 1/2 inch primary's versus mocks 1 1/4 will mean you can use them further down the track.

i had them on my ea for a while.

i orignaly had a 2 1/4 mandrell straight thru exhaust and hi-flo cat set up with a set of motivator extractors i ran a 15.6@88mph. i then went and fitted a set of pacemakers with a 2.5 mandrell system with straight thru muffler and hi-flow cat, best time 15.33@94mph with wheelspin in 1st & 2nd gears of the line. i was confident of cracking a 15.2.

but alas a broken diff ment i could not try and run faster.

so pacemakers have my nod.

i'd suggest a set of pacemakers,a 2.5 inch manderll exhaust with 2 straight thru glass pack mufflers, a 6.0lt high flow cat ($1100 all up).
run a au falcon lower half of the airbox with a ef falcon top half (100 bux tops at wreckers) a 3 inch manderll bent pipe from air box to throttle body ($175). and a au series 3 xr8 220kw air inlet snorkel (42 bux from ford) and a k&n panel filter ($105), use premium fuel as well and you should see a 15 percent gain in hp... so go from 157kw to 180 odd kw.

next step head work and cam shaft ($2000 ) and a chip as well ($650)

240+ flywheel kw will be had (320+hp). for a total spend of 4200 bux you will have a low 14 sec high 13 sec street flyer!!!.

cheers.joe.

Wrong, wrong, Mock race tuned extractors now have mandrell bends and have been dyno tested. I have no plans to further modify motor, so JMM's are going to be my choice !!

If youve got a dedicated LPG AU3 then my advise is to keep your exhaust manifold, they work very well and have a 2.65 outlet of them. Spend the money on the exhaust after that, try something like the BA turbo system.
