Hi tha name is Ricardo from canada, im new to this forum and also new to the ford I 6's. I just purchased a 79 ford Fairmont Station/W and would like to do some modifications to it, like a set of weber side draft carbs, manual transmission conversion, better exhaust manifold, or maybe a turbo install. Living in canda makes it hard to find parts for my car cant even get a head gaskit without it coming from the states. anyways i heard from another web forum that there is a aussie 250 2v head which will fit my app which is the 3.3l or the 200 CID motor. would like to know where i can find one, also how can i install a manual trans into my car as far as i know there was no manual option for my motor for that model.
Any help would be greatly appriciated.
thanks in advance.

Aaah, Toronto, the perceived center of the universe. (at least to people who live there!) Greetings from Calgary, Ricardo.

You shouldn't have any problems getting parts in T.O. dude. If I can get this kind of crap in Calgary, you shouldn't have any problems. Look into every parts store you can to see what they offer, and hit all the wreckers too. I guarantee you'll find what you need.

Manual transmission: Not too hard. Find a manual transmission Mustang, and swap the whole mess over to your car. They share the same platform, driveline and basic structure, so it's pretty much a bolt in.

Best of luck, welcome aboard,
Jim

Ricardo:

Welcome aboard, I live just down the street & over the hill from you.
I'm in Hamilton.

I don't know how good the scrap yards are for older cars there in the "Big Smoke" but you should be able to find some things.

This is an excellent forum for the I-6's

Welcome Ricardo :D

Anyways, I would like to give you some advice about using this forum.

Setup a folder in your computer called TECH TIPS or what ever. Under this set up folders for engine, carb, trans..etc. The when you do searches of the forum archives...or current posts, along with searches on the net...you can copy this stuff to the PC word processing document and file it. I have done this and it really does help save asking repetitive questions and also gives me stuff to read when I am not online. Combine this with the tech section of the forum and you've got the best in documentation.

Also suggest that you pick up a copy of the FALCON 6 Performance book...great stuff on engines and mods. Although I was wondering if during the Idaho winters..we might see a revision and upgrade of this manual...??? :?

Thanks to all who have replied to me, unfortunatly here in Toronto most actually all the recycling yard here crush old cars not restore them, you have about 2 wks from the time the car hits the yard to the time they crush, and my fox body ford is a hard find in my neck of the woods. I've seen a total of 3 yes 3 ford fairmonts in the whole of toronto and that includes mine, the other 2 were a 4 banger and a 302. Never the less persivarance will prevaile I will find the parts i need, i will customize my ride, even tho everyone say (why are you gonna fix that old piece of scrap, besides its a Station Wagon For Petes sake)
