Hey all. I'm getting ready to start dressing out the engine bay a bit and first on the list are chrome valve cover and air cleaner (a 2V carb under it).

I'm so tired of seeing traditional round chrome bodied cleaner housings. I went with a K&N oval on my '64 F100. Nice. I've been considering going with a stock (or like-stock) cleaner, painting the bottom and chroming the top and runnin the cold air induction. That's probably my #1 option right now, but I want to see and/or hear what some of you have done/seen. I'd like something to really stand out nicely and be a bit different.

Thanks gang.

check out MustangGeezer's site, he's got a good setup, looks pretty smooth too

and language, please

Believe me, I've seen Geezers stuff and I dream of a build up like that someday. If I DO go with the stock style, ram air, chrome top setup, it'll look something like this:

 Geezer's stuff rocks!

By "langauge, please" are you referring to my post title and the word Bitchin'? Appologies. I've always used and heard the term in refference to cool and unusual hot-rod style stuff. Heck, I figured if a company can use the name Bitchin to produce this type of stuff, it's good enough for me!

yeah, that's what i was talkin 'bout
i don't know the company you are talking 'bout, but i do know that language is something of a concern around here

COME ON NOW...BITXXXX isnt exactly a bad word. Its a descriptive word I have heard on PHRTV

Popular hot rod...

Cam *& Dean say it...so can we. They are rodders...

I love to argue this point

argue it all you want, but Jack & Co. have said that they don't want it, so you can argue with them

well, prevention is the best cure

this forum is sorta like my grandma's house*, i go there and my curse words get deleted, i do the same thing here, but on other forums i get real bad

* 'cept this place doesn't smell like grandma, and grandma doesn't know much about cars.....

... and I thought that´d apply to four-letter-words mostly.

reminds me of some car-craft cover reading "looks stock, hauls *ss". I think they got some complaints about that as well.

Anyway, here´s my share of air cleaner lids:

painted aluminum lid, donor car unknown. standard purolator filter element, homemade base from aluminum sheet. Made it as a cheap temporary filter when I moved the stang to another city, somewhat closer to my home. Didn´t want to drive her without any air cleaner at all. total costs were 15 bucks

that one started life as an average 10inch chrome air cleaner assembly which I found boring from the second minute after I got ripped off for it on eBay.
Masked where I wanted shine, then bead blasted the areas I wanted to paint, primered and went crazy with black wrinkle paint and chevy orange.
haven´t seen anything like that yet. Still sorry I sold it for half what I spent for it ( 40bucks incl. paint and blasting). I guess I´m just plain stupid sometimes.

I'll post my new aircleaner in a couple of days.....I had the lid jet hot coated and added some new decals.....Kinda looks like the one in the picture above!

Chrome Ford motorsport one like some of the guys are running here looks good IMO also!!

Later,

Doug

I am running the chrome ford motorsports cover geezer mentioned above and it looks nice.
