I pulled the radiator and related coolant system parts this weekend to get things sorted out in that department. I found what I think was one problem. I think the thermostat was in backwards....

After checking everything I could find, I came up with this as the correct way to run the stat?

Excuse the crude drawing, but is that not right? If it is the idiots at P.tune put the last one in backwards..... If it's wrong the idiot is me.

:) jimbo, the pic. looks right to me. the spring to the block. hope that does it for you...frank..

Yep, that made sense to me. Now I know why the 160 degree stat was running at 185 and higher...

I put in a 195 therm and 3 row radiator. It seems to run a little high, but I have to bleed the system still. I was only making sure.

Thanks

Most thermos here have a faint stamping on the flange: "THIS SIDE TO RAD." Does yours? ;)

The drawing looks right to me unless you are running a reverse pump.
