Holley 7448, spring on float?

Question regarding a spring on the 7448 holley float arm, the 4412 did not have this spring. The spring keeps tension on the float in the downward (or open needle) position. This seems is would help with fuel levels in the bowl on bumpy roads so not to "bounce" the float around in the bowl. William? Thank you for any advice.

Kirk

Kirk, the spring tension helps lift the float to a partially closed position, not to an open position.

The spring helps counteract the weight of the float.

It does not open or lower the float. William

like william said.

same on early 2100 2bbl, and phased out when they started using nitrophyl (buna N closed foam) floats instead of brass ones.

Yes sir, that is what I found out yesterday. I had the spring on there backwards and it HELD it open, with fuel coming out of the vent everywhere. And yes this came off the brass float. I sure do appreciate y'alls advice (and tech support).

Kirk
ps. works good now in the correct position, thanks again.
