After reading through alot of magazines I thought this idea would be great. A maximum of $2004.99 to buy and build a small or big six powered vehicle. Anyone else think this would be worth trying? It would involve performance testing at various locations. Quarter mile, top speed and handling would determine the winner!!

I LIKE IT! If I add up all the cars I purchased within the last 2 months,I'd STILL be WAY UNDER that $2004.99 price. Ya just gotta know what yer looki'n at,and know how to barter, and what you'd want/expect the finished car(or,truck...)to do on the street/strip. Hell,a 'yard local to me just got in a..............UM,...dare I say it  :P ? A nearly mint '88 YUGO 3 door hatch(  :o  )with about 83,000 miles on it! Now that's something ya just don't see anymore! HMMMmmmm. a mid engined(300ci.)Yugo  :P . Yep,defently somethi'n different there  :D !!!! OO6.

Well $150 for the truck, 75 for the second motor, 30 for the convertor and lets say another 70 in misc. That comes out to $325 so far and leaves me with lots of room to add more over the winter. If this idea were to come to a actual event I would need some help to organize it, anyone interested?

Do you get to depreciate investment in a vehicle you bought awhile ago?
$1200 for the 1980 mustang back in 91? Iv'e put 40,000 miles on it and only $600 in repairs.

Set it up like GrassRoots Motorsports challenges. Points for speed, steering, and style. On a car you have in place. use a fair market value. Reselling only buys back 50 cents on the dollar, just like grm does it. they have a 5 year history with these things, and are continuing to work out the bugs and holes in their system that seem to get enlarged every year.

Cool idea

I don't think I'd have a competition on looks. The age of most of our cars/trucks is beyond 15 years and most tend to look it. Maybe if we have another later we can add that type of thing. Anyone else think we should allow depreciation to effect the value of vehicles in this competition?
