Hey transplant gurus, quick search through the posts and quite a few sucessfull efi upgrades out there.

Did anyone record the "as-built" wiring?

I'm pulling motor +auto from an xf and would like to go into the swap knowing exactly what wires needed what connection. [especially those not going to engine bay and terminating in the 'badlands' behind the dash]

It is pretty easy - if going into another xf or an XE or XD. The others I cannot be sure about. The colour codes are standard for XD-XF. There is no wiring behind the dash for the efi ; the tacho signal works with the standard wire. The best way I found to do it all was to get all the wiring harness for the efi, including the transmission inhibit stuff. You will find an 8 pin plug near the brake booster - one end will be on the efi harness - you will need the other end and its wires - follow the colour codes. There will be 1 earth and 1 12v connection to the battery (check the condition of the fuse holders and links). There will be 2 relays, a brown and a black. Check their condition and their sockets for burning / corrosion. If the system is going into anything other than an xf you will need to cut a hole in the firewall for the harness to pass through : be careful and put it in the right spot ..... the heater will be in the way ! The ecu will mount in the same spot as the xf on xd/xe but an xd will need the xe/xf kick panel. You will need fuel plumbing and wiring too. If I have forgotten anything let me know (pm or whatever).

Kendall.
