Thanks for the quick reply for my other Query :)

Anyway. The XF i have bought has been resprayed and the badges not replaced on it. I was wondering how to identify whether is was an 'S' Pack, 25th anniversary etc etc model. The reason I as is that I have seen other model XF's and they have a differerent instrument cluster to mine.

My cluster has Digital readout for fuel, oil, Clock, battery volts and temperature. It also has an analogue readout for RPM and Speed.
On my friends vehicle of the same vintage it has analogue everything except for a digital clock.

Would this be an indication of whether it was 'S' or 25th, or is there another way to identify. Cheers guys

My s pack has the same dash and the tacho dash is usually the give away.
What year is it? ulp/leaded? disc all round or drums at the rear?

Go to the sticky on engine and chassis numbers, and suck up the info!

It looks like the S was an option Pack, not a model. The so called Falcon S was normally a Falcon GL or Fairmont with the option ticked off. It could have a nother SIDO/RPO number on the placard, but I'd say the only way to know is to check off the normal wire codes 85DA codes on the wire loom, and check it out at your friendly Ford dealer. The upgrade to the S pck dash is hard to hide as the sensors and other details are a package. It may never have had an car code like a 33 or whatever.

The Yakaki/VDO gauges were prone to get shortened out when the 53% of Falcon owners put on a tow bar. Bing, 400 dollars out of pocket.

Somewhere, some one knows about the key points to look for. Not me.

its 85, Leaded. dont know what what has to do with it though.
Ill have to look at the brakes... diddnt know that S pack had all 4 disc brakes, thought that was in the fairmont ghia only

look for big round oil pressure sensor on side of block,if its the big one it's an s pack,if it just the stock sender she be a stocker.s pack instrument clusters will bolt into any xf no mods at all,i know i have one in my gl wagon, keep dust, moisture and rattling clear of this dash or it will die!!!!

23's your regular sedan. So, it may be a 25th or something.

The "S" was an upgrade on the GL spec, so it may be on a 23 code. It features the round-hole ROH rims and (AFAIK) ran front buckets and console always. From mammary, red piping around the seat trim was pretty common.

The 25th had LTD style alloys, and the tacho/speedo on the dash were quadrant types, not round dials. It also had slightly different trim. The 25th was introduced in September '85 and only 2K made.

You might have an optioned-up GL, or a "mongrel" (seeing as it's almost 20 years old).

Cheers, Adam.

HAha cheers guys! Mogral :D

Ill just assume its a Gl with the funky Dash. Main reason i was checking was for insurance reasons

My parents had a xf s pack 86 model.... it had

taco dash (analoge)
with digital guages (oil, vlots temp fuel)
5 speed manual
s-pac rims, with the holes
200 cin motor.
red rib around cloth seats.

it done 240,000 km without any major problems at all
