my car started over heating last night...suddenly.

it was so dark.

I limped it home and in the darkness, filled the radiator back up and went to bed

this morning same thing...at intersections it was so hot, the steam was pouring ou of the over flow hose and making a TEA KETTLE WHISTLE

I got to a place where I could pop the hood...and said (scroll down)

WHERE THE HELL IS MY FAN BELT?

completely gone. I will have to get a new one at lunch

i just hope the water pump didnt seize

is that a Miami joke?

:x

i think someone is making a raft wih it...

HAY CHAZ
You should be able to just reach in and spin the fan and see if the pump is frozen up.. If its frozen up the fan won't turn..

pump is fine. got a new belt for $10

I guess my intermittent heat problems were becaus ethe belt was stretch out too far (or the wrong belt) This one is shorter and I am not at full extention of the alt adjustment

its amazing how it cools when it has a belt..

When I first replaced my alternator, it didn't line up very well with the rest of the pulleys so the fan on the alternator ended up shredding the belt. I doubt that was your problem, but it's a possibility.

Panty-hose can be used as a temp fan belt, especially if you bypass the alternator and just run the water pump.

Any hot babes where you work?

Wife's car threw a serpentine belt 1 morning, got it back on in the dark(tricky) and as i finished i noticed a mouse with a crushed skull on the ground--apparently he got in there the night before to get warm and when she cranked it, she threw the belt and his brains.

No Chaz, just a "big city" joke. Sydney has heroin, too.

I must be very naive. I thought you were referring to tying up your boat to the pier Addo. :?

Very Sydney and Florida I'd reckon.

sad that hard drugs invade even here in a engine forum. Not a joking matter to me with young children.
