I am confused, I think it's a '78 200

I have a '78 something engine, the block code is D8BE.
I found that the D8DE is a '78 200. the only code I have found for D8B is a 250, the water pump only has three mount bolts. Any help please?

All 250s have the low mount starter. The 200 didn't have a low mount starter until around 81.

Hope this helps.

I know it makes know sense, but FoMoCo used the same casting codes on all small sixes, so the casting code is only good to tell you about when the block was engineered. it was cast sometime after that. If your engine has a three bolt water pump then it is most likely a 200. Also take note of Rocklords tip.

Adios, David
