I am back after a blown head gasket. Turns out that my RADIATOR wa steh culprit. It was so clogged that it wasnt cooling properly...thus the car overheated and blew the gasket

all fixed now

had the head magnafuxed and made sure it was flat. they opened up the oil ports a little too

had a few other things done too...like my monte carlo bar bolted in correctly.

one thing the mechanic did notice....embarrasssingly...is that I have my spark plugs gapped anywhere from .042 to .057...no wonder I couldnt get a smooth idle.

now we are all tuned up and running smooth. I went back to .035 on plugs for now....just to make sure car wasnt runnig hard.

good to be done
(BTW: my new job doenst have internet access for FordSix...because they have a filter...this is considered automotive...so I cant view at work)

That's good news. For some reason, a lot of people forget that a radiator is not supposed to last 40 years, at least not the old ones. I know I didn't want to admit it as it was the most expensive part of the cooling system, but it seems more and more that it is usually the culprit. I'm willing to bet you'll have no cooling issues now. I know I haven't had a single one since replacing the radiator, with idling for 30 minutes in 95*+ weather.

After you get everything sorted out, try gapping to .042 for your set up. I think it will work nicely.

Good to hear your back on the road! Sorry to hear about your firewall issues, but rules were made to be broken right? You have a PM

Good to here everything worked out well! It's nice to have the car running smooth, isn't it!
