I have 2 Mustangs, a 66' coupe w/ an Inline 6 and a 86' hatchback w/ a 302 performance motor. I recently purchased the 86' from an impound yard needing many repairs. It needs a front window, transmission, tires, dash and door panels repaired and a paint job. My 66' is my daily driver but it's a slug. Can I put the 302 from my 86' and put it in my 66'. Will the C-4 bolt up to it or do I need to change bell housings? What about the torque convertor? The tranny in the 86' has fried gears. Its automatic but not sure which tranny it is. I will need V-8 motor mounts? Is there anything else I'm missing? Please help me. I'm a big Mustang fan and have owned my 66 for 15 yrs. All help is appreciated.

this outlines it pretty well

i noticed from your other posts that you've been lookin to upgrade for a while, and been thinking 'bout this for a bit, so i won't bother you about trying to persuade you not to do it
good luck tho

Good Luck if you decide to do it! I went as far as getting an engine and trans, however I am finding out that the value of my car will decrease greatly if I do the swap so I don't think I will make the plunge.....I might do some of the V8 mods ie. suspension and braking but just get some pep out of my I6.

Have fun.

thanks for all the advise. I think I'll leave the I6 in it . after all I did spend alot of time and money pumpin it up. I guess I'll fix the 86'. Then sell them both and buy a 2004 GT.
