I had been calling the warehouse where my crate was to arrive for pickup just about everyday since the ship came into port and nothing. They didn't have it yet was their answer. Now it turns out that they did have it but since no one showed up to claim it, they shipped it out to another warehouse and now it's $400 if I ever want to see the crate.

I was thinking about taking legal action, but they'd just deny any wrong doing. Where's my proof afterall, phantom phone calls from my place to their office. :x

All that hard work from JD for nothing. :x

I don't know that this belongs in here, just venting. I'm so pissed off.

Tom,

Which warehouse, Was it NOVA? Did you go through a customs broker?

Dennis

No. AZ West. A broker wanted like $100 for what took 10 mins. of my time. Did it myself.

Not that anyone cares, but I'm picking her up tomarrow. JD lit a fire under someones a$$ because it looks like everything is taken care of. 8)

We care. Arms for the poor....your gonna love it bro', you've earned it!
I'm excited, afterall this bs, finally. All that's left is to pay the $45 forklift fee 8)

I think I'll take some pictures and make a new thread once she's home safe. :D

Things didn't turn out as advertised. They lured me down there, I paid my fee but oh wait, turns out they want more $$.

JD had good news a few days ago and everthing looked to be back on track, now more of the same bs.

Small claims court, here I come. :x

Here is what I did once and it worked. Go to your courthouse and get the paperwork to file a small claims case. Then go to residentagentinfo.com and look up who the resident agent for that company is. Fill out the paperwork, sue for 5k damages and send it to the resident agent via certified mail with a letter saying that it will be filed with the court in 5 days unless they give you your crate.

Make them think you are a sue crazy guy, they usually wont want the aggervation so they will give in. If they don't you will have to sue.

If you try this, I would be happy to help in any way I can. I hate seeing someone get screwed!

Me too. It gives everyone a bad taste. We need to elect a figure head, and hammer the heck out of these people. (Useing a mixture of due process, and thug presence :smash: ). There are 1300 people here who would be even more pi**ed than you if it were their engine.

:hmmm: Back on my grand daddies side, I've got Medditerian forefathers, maybee a little old school Italian Union justice may be in order? 500 pounds of qwick-crete for 500 pounds of Aussie Alloy and Steel.

:chill: :chill: :chill:

Channel the anger. I'm with Spyke. Jack, you have done this before, what is the constructive approach?

Spyke, if nothing happens by this next week, I'll have to sue. I'll send you a PM if/when I have some questions.

:x

Cool man, I would be happy to walk you through it. When you get the motor back, I say we get even!

In the mean time:
Make sure you get the first and last names of everyone you talk to and write down the dates and times of the calls and what they said. If you want to push them a little get a tape recorder from Radio Shack and tell the person you are going to tape record the call BEFORE you start the tape and again when the tape starts rolling. This will totally freak them out and they may hang up on you so get their names before.

Basically make them think you are a crazy lawsuit happy nutcase. YOU have the power to make their lives a living hell!

What exactly are the fees they are asking for?

When my crate arrived I had to pay for stripping, documentation, dock handling fees, and some other things I can't recall, to two different agents. It starts to add up after a while, but I knew that was part of the deal. Just last week I had to pay the same sort of fees to two companies to get a shipment of equipment out of New York from Germany.

The international shipping business is filled with arcane and obscure regulations and sometimes it seems like people are trying to nickel and dime you to death, but there are a large number of transactions that have to be accounted for. Before you go charging into court, make sure you have your ducks in a row.

The warehouser could charge you a fee for each day that it stays at their site.

Jack, all my fees are paid off. They have been for over a month. All except the forklift fee, which was to be paid at the time of pickup and I paid that this past Monday, when they told me to come pick it up.

Someone in their office entered the wrong container number into their system. At least that's what it looks like.

Basically the supervisor there told me that I'm screwed, nothing she can do, blah, blah, blah, not their responsibility. Have a nice day.

DBzOkole, I know. The price will go up again at the end of this month. Another couple hundred dollars. No way in hell I'm going to pay for someones screw up. :x
