Hired one the other and put it through its pasess over winding roads etc sticks to road and corners like no other car Ive driven. The thing does rev to 5500 without the slightest hesitation.
Cant imagine the rod ratio has much to with the engine not reving as the ratio in a BA is still far below what is considered the ideal and that long stroke doesnt seem to hold it back much either. Ive had an AU falcon and it doesnt compare to this weapon in any respect.
Still my old Cortina 250 2V was nearly half a second quicker up hill from 60kph at 2500rpm to 100kph at 4000 than the BA at same rpm and speed. This all changed if I let the BA drop back a gear and go to @90 kph at 5500 it then gained half a second on the old 250 2V.
I realise its not much of a performance comparison too many variables involved. Still good fun though.
Cheers.

Just a standard BA. yes it was stock. "What a car", no one would guess it weighed 1800+ kg.

Variable valve timeing, and tuned intake, slightly longer rods, 1.65 tonnes without people in it, and it still does 15.5's in manual form.

Suicide is signifactly more difficult than a 1966 390 Galxie with drum brakes, or a Phase III! You got huge discs, big air pillows and a good ,stable IRS policy backing you up.

Tim, its time we rented the engine for a year to go in your TD, and return the BA with your 250 in it insted!

If only it could be done and my 250 disguised to look like a BA engine. Actually I noticed when I took it back to check over it they only walked around the outside a couple of times.
